Whenever Karan Johar comes up with a project, he does with a bang and lies under the news. Now he is under the news due to his projects – My Name is Khan and Wake Up Sid. The former stars the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol whereas the latter features Ranbir Kapoor opposite Konkona Sen Sharma. The musis of ‘Wake Up Sid’ has hit the markets and been composed by the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who has been behind almost every film of Karan Johar. The lyrics have been scored by Javed Akhtar. Let’s check out the album now.

1) Aaj Kal Zindagi (Shankar Mahadevan)

Shankar Mahadevan holds the mike to open the show with the song, ‘Aaj Kal Zindagi’. He attracts the souls with his marvelously delivered voice. The track appears to be soft. The lyrics are well penned. The composition is spongy. Listen it to have enjoyment.

2) Iktara (Amitabh Bhattacharya and Kavita Seth)

Kavita and Amitabh join hands to croon the next song on the album. Both deliver the goods with much conviction. The fusion of rustic and western influences attracts the ears. The heavy dose of guitar strikes a chord. Javed Akhtar’s lyrics appear superb and the composition compliments them utterly.

Rating: 8.5/10

3) Kya Karoon (Clinton Cerejo)

So far fantastic tracks on the album, but the one that emerges now on the scene is a mundane job from all respects. ‘Kya Karoon’ is sung by Clinton Cerejo, who disappoints fully. Lyrics too are poor and so is the music.

4) Life is Crazy (Uday Benegal and Shankar Mahadevan)

Uday Benegal and Shankar Mahadevan croon ‘Life is Crazy’. Both loot your hearts with their marvelous renditions. The sounds are contemporary, which grows on you. Javed Akhtar’s lyrics do the job with finesse. Music by SEL is a class in itself. The number is a sure shot hit amongst the young generation.

5) Wake Up Sid (Shankar Mahadevan)

The title track is what winds up the album. Shankar Mahadevan pockets it to sing. And he croons it with a style that injects pleasures in hearts. A sweet and entertaining number, it carries squashy lyrics and the spongy music. It will let you hum it around time and again.

The remix is a treat to listen to.

Conclusion:

The signature style of Shanakr-Ehsaan-Loy is vivid in this soundtrack. They have once again composed the music that is very hummable. The album will be a hit like their previous works.
