Music: Monty Sharma

Without any doubt, it is a fact that attempting and then making a suspense thriller appears to be the most difficult task. To do it, a vivid and utter knowledge of the art is required. To help the viewer be attentive and get glued to the seat is not an easy task to accomplish. Some filmmakers have the skills to do all this and Deepak Tijori is one of them.

Tijori had attempted the thrillers earlier in his filmmaking career, so FOX is not the first for him. To execute the brilliant theme on screen with conviction is what Deepak has done this time around. He is a talented storyteller and that shows from every scene unzipped on screen.

Suspense thrillers are witnessed in plenty on Bollywood front but many filmmakers are found lacking in delivering the wrap-ups (conclusions) making the viewer disappointed hugely. Tijori does the concluding sequences with much finesse that the viewer finds satisfaction.

FOX tells the story of a young and successful criminal lawyer, Arjun Kapoor (Arjun Rampal). His knowledge of law and the aggressive interpretation of the subject make him a name to reckon with.

Arjun’s repute is mammoth in the society and everyone knows that he never loses a case and easily can get anyone acquitted no matter what the crime is! He loves to be famous and success is what always makes him thirsty for more. He spends little time thinking about the moral issues relating to his work. But a day arrives, when he finds himself guilty after saving criminals from punishment for many years, he decides to quit law practice. He wants to change for good. But there is someone who does not want him to go so easily. Now Arjun lands in a race where he has to save himself. In this race, he takes the help from his girlfriend Urvashi (Sagarika Ghatge) and a local police officer Yash Deshmukh (Sunny Deol). What happens next forms the rest of the story and here the suspense oozes out for the viewer.

The film begins superbly and the suspense element develops by getting the cinegoer involved utterly. Lifting the blanket from the secrecy too appears convincing. The mystery element appeals the most. The sequences are well executed. The characterization is fantastic. The start, interval to climax all have been well presented on the celluloid.

Deepak Tijori’s selection of the subject and cast is great. The direction holds values. Tijori helps the viewer’s attention alive all through. The story and screenplay by Deepak Tijori himself are well penned. Nigam Bomzan’s cinematography is catchy. The camera movement is splendid. Monty Sharma’s music is spongy. Manohar Verma’s action is first-rate.

Sunny Deol does well but his acting is not upto those standards, he usually do. Arjun Rampal gels well with the character, he plays in the film. Udita Goswami looks sexy and gorgeous but is wasted in the flick. Sagarika Ghatge enacts the part well. Rest of the cast fills the bill also.

On the whole, FOX is a gripping suspense thriller. Go for it.
