Romancing The Bollywood Way

No tension. Mamu is here! So you say you want to spice up your love life just like the bollywood films.. eh? Okay, this one is not as hard as you think, boy fall in love with the girl.. dance on top of the mountains in Kasmir then jump over to the Himalaya’s to Switzerland.  Am I missing something or does this really only happen in the bollywood films? Whether you are desi or you are be-desi one thing for sure is that your Laila wants to be lavished and your Majnu wants to be the center of the attention. Then again; did I just make a gender mistake or is it the other way around?

Whatever might be the case, every girl these days dreams to be with Amir Khan in Ghajini for a husband and Emran Hashmi in Jannat for a husband and every guy seems to look for a girl with an Amrita Rao for wife and Malika Sherawat in the bed. The coincidental truth is that the guys more often than girls wear skimpy tights in attempt to show off abs and make themselves look four months pregnant with a beer belly. Then again, guys do not forget a little bit of upper fat is not all that bed, because these days girls like to be able rub a bit and its easier for girls to come close to a soft guy then to a bulky brainless hunk, if you do not believe your Mamu then listen to what Anushka Sharma has to say in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Okay! Ok! Ok! I got the point, so Mamu got a little off tangent. So you got your abs within thirty days after doing hard core cardio like Shahruhk in Om Shanti Om and you ask, “What now Mamu?” How do you tell her how you really feel? Do you say you love her and she tells you she is not dating anymore and you see her kissing your best friend the next day, or do you play “luka luki”, “chori chori chupke chupke”, or as in English hide and seek? If this is your option than no doubt you are too filmy. Or should I say you are walking and talking, living and breathing the Bollywood film story lines.

Whether you are a little filmy or a lot filmy let’s face the fact it is not all that bad, but make sure you are yourself more often than trying to be Shahruhk or Salman for your girlfriend or for that special someone that you more than just like. If you do not stay on top of your game and she likes you for being an actor then sooner or later you will lose her because sooner or later you will do something that is different than what she expects an actor to do. Even if that does not happen very soon you will realize you do not like the fact that she is not actually in love with you but with someone else and that will hurt you more than you will feel loved.

I am not any love expert or someone who is studying human psychology and its relation to Bollywood film industry but I too am a person who likes socializing and hanging out with friends, and more often than none I hear people tell me they want to be always special to their loved one. In filmy style would be something like how Rani is to Vivek in the movie Saathiya. However what they forget to notice is you can be special to your loved one by just noticing her small likes and dislikes, just like Kunal Kapoor’s mom tell him to spice up his marriage life in the movie Hattrick. So if you are looking for a long lasting relationship whether it is with your girlfriend or wife you can continue to earn her trust by noticing the small likes and dislikes. In your attempt to being “Mr. Nice guy” or the “perfect Boyfriend” make sure you do not make her the only purpose of your life, because although it looks good to the eye seeing Sunil Shetty achieve everything by trying to win Shilpa’s love in Dhadkan, he fails to realize who truly loves him. So if you blind sight yourself thinking that the first girl who showed you tenderness is the only one that can love you and make you happy then you might be wrong so keep your faith but do not make yourself look desperate or arrogant to her either. Else, she just might get up and leave you like Amisha Patel leaves Zahir Khan in the movie Vaada.

With all these negative factors accounted for, you know, you still have to impress a desi girl Bollywood style. Now the question is: how do you find your one true love?

Whether you are trying to find your one desi true love or a soul mate, your best option is to be honest to yourself before you can be honest to her. One cannot prove his “mordangi” (manliness) by showing off muscles or being abusive to a woman. At the same time he must hold his grounds to ensure that he is not being taken advantage of, therefore he must not hesitate to act on his belief and he should let her know of what makes him uncomfortable and what he feels most loved by. Likewise being a strict person does not mean you should not have fun, actually if you want your loved one to open up to you and for you two to come close then you should not hesitate to introduce her to some of your hobbies. As most successful lovers will tell you that some guys love sewing something they picked up to get close to their girlfriend and some girls love playing football, something she does to get a feel for him. Now if you think that will take you away from being desi or loving Bollywood style well then let me tell you that in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Kajol fall in love with Shahruhk while playing basketball. So share your hobby with her and enjoy the time spent together. You will do something Bollywood style and enjoy the company of your loved one.
